How to Use the Pick Up broom

As more customers are using the Front Mode Broom, it's important to avoid issues caused by incorrect operation. Today, I'll share the correct way to use the Front Mode Broom.

the correct way

Before operating the Front Mode Broom:

  1. Ensure Safety: Operate in a safe area. Check that all controls and tire pressures on the host machine are normal.
  2. Replace Damaged Parts: Replace any damaged parts or hoses.
  3. Secure Attachment: Ensure that the sweeper is firmly connected to the host machine.
  4. Check Hydraulic Connections: Make sure all hydraulic couplings and devices are securely connected.
  5. Verify Power Source Pressure: Confirm that the power source pressure is adequate, as insufficient pressure can affect the sweeper's performance.
  6. Clear the Area: Remove any items from the sweeping area that could be damaged by flying debris.
  7. Wear Appropriate Clothing: Always wear suitable clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt with cuffs fastened; wear protective goggles or a face shield and a dust mask.

When operating the Front Mode Broom:

  1. Adhere to Regulations: Always comply with all applicable government regulations and local laws.
  2. Shutdown Procedures: Regardless of the situation, before leaving the operating area, lower the sweeper to the ground, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and remove the keys.
  3. Safety for Non-Operators: Keep non-operational personnel away from the equipment to prevent injuries.
  4. Handle Rough Terrain Carefully: When operating on rough or uneven terrain, reduce speed to minimize bouncing and reduce damage to the sweeper.
  5. Keep Distance: Avoid close proximity to crowds, buildings, vehicles, or other items that could be damaged.
  6. Adjust Settings for Conditions: Adjust the sweeper's rotational speed and the host machine's traveling speed according to the actual working conditions.

Operating Sequence:

  1. Connecting the Sweeper: Attach the main unit to the Front Mode Broom using its quick-connect system. Ensure that the locking pins on the quick-connect device are fully inserted into the corresponding holes on the sweeper attachment and that the lever is fully pressed down and locked. When connecting, ensure that the contact surfaces are clean of mud and other debris to ensure a flush fit. During the connection process, lift the sweeper entirely off the ground to prevent misalignment at the connection plate's base, which could prevent the locking pins from securing properly and lead to severe accidents.
  2. Hydraulic Connections: Connect the hydraulic quick couplers of the Front Mode Broom to the host machine, ensuring they are correctly and securely attached. When installing and removing hydraulic quick couplers, make sure the engine is turned off and use the pressure relief feature to release any internal pressure in the lines.(Tip: To extend the life of the motor, connect the motor's drain line directly back to the host's oil tank.)
  3. Adjusting Brush Compression:
    1. Place the sweeper on a flat and relatively dirty surface.
    2. Rotate the brush roll at low speed, lower the sweeper to the ground, and run it for about half a minute while in operation.
    3. Lift the sweeper, reverse, apply brakes, and shut down the power to check the cleaning marks. The cleaning marks should be about 150mm wide and as long as the brush roll.
    4. If the cleaning marks do not meet these dimensions, adjust the brush compression using the adjustment bolts on either end of the sweeper.(Tip: Ensure you adjust the bolts on both ends simultaneously to prevent uneven wear on the brush.)
  4. Starting the Equipment: Start the equipment and allow the brush to begin rotating, then slowly lower the sweeper. Ensure the blade of the sweeper bucket just contacts the ground surface, with the rear of the bucket slightly raised off the ground. Move the host machine forward while sweeping for better cleaning results. Lower the travel speed for better cleaning.

When starting the equipment, keep the engine at idle and use the variable flow control switch to slowly activate the button, minimizing hydraulic shock to protect the motor upon startup. Run the motor at this setting for a few minutes to stabilize the speed before increasing to the appropriate throttle setting.

    speed before increasing
  5. Minimize Downward Pressure: Try to reduce the downward pressure exerted on the sweeper to minimize excessive brush wear. Periodically check the wear of the brushes and adjust their compression using the adjustment bolts to ensure optimal cleaning performance.
  6. Optimize Brush Speed and Travel Speed: Operate the brush roller at a low speed and keep the vehicle's travel speed moderate to effectively remove debris from hard surfaces. A high travel speed may stir up dust, impairing the operator's visibility.
  7. Adjust Settings for Light Debris: If there is not much debris on the ground, consider lowering the brush speed and reducing the brush compression according to the situation to minimize brush wear.
  8. Surface Wear Variations: Different road conditions result in different degrees of wear, such as milling residues containing moisture, dry asphalt, and dry concrete surfaces. Each condition leads to varying degrees of wear, particularly the most on concrete surfaces. Theoretically, a set of brush segments lasts about 200-300 hours.
  9. Post-Cleaning Procedure: After cleaning, stop the brush rotation, raise the sweeper a safe distance above the ground, and transport it to the disposal site. You may slightly retract the bucket to prevent the contents from being shaken out during transit. Avoid raising the sweeper too high to prevent accidents.
  10. Dumping Process: Once at the disposal site, lift the sweeper bucket to empty the contents. Avoid banging or shaking the bucket harshly. If your host machine does not have an automatic bucket leveling feature, the sweeper's cover might flip backward during lifting, potentially damaging the hydraulic quick-coupler or the cabin. Ensure the sweeper remains level during lifting.(Tip: The Sibom enclosed sweeper has a patented cover anti-flip mechanism for comprehensive operational safety.)
  11. Shutting Down: Before turning off the sweeper, gradually reduce the throttle and bring the engine speed to idle before turning off the fuel supply.
  12. Storage Procedure: First disconnect the hydraulic quick couplers, then detach from the quick-connect device. Ensure the sweeper is placed on a stable and flat surface before disassembly.

Before removing the hydraulic quick couplers, ensure the engine is turned off and use the pressure relief feature to release any internal pressure in the lines.
